Maria G. Serra

Maria G. Serra, 91, of Rocky Hill, formerly of Florida and Hartford, died Friday, (March 16, 2012) at Hartford Hospital. She was born January 19, 1921 in Sessa Aurunca province of Caserta, Italy and was the daughter of the late Francesco and Angela (Cirillo) Serra. She was predeceased by her brother, John Serra and his wife, Anna (Ciriello) Serra. She lived on Preston Street in Hartford before moving to Delray Beach, Florida. She entered the work force at the age of 18 and was employed by Aetna Insurance Company until retirement. Maria was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church. She is survived by her nieces, Frances Guiliano and husband, Anthony of Wethersfield, Lucille Carbone and husband, Carl of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Angeline Komarow of East Hartford as well as many great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick & St. Anthony Church, 285 Church Street, Hartford. The burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There will not be any calling hours.
