

Marino ""Marty"" J. Mattioli, 81, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 52 years of Mary (Camilleri) Mattioli, passed away unexpectedly on Monday (February 21, 2011). He was born in Plainville, the son of the late Pietro and Viola (Iannini) Mattioli. He served in the Korean War and retired after 35 years of service from Fansteel/VR Wesson in Southington. A devoted son, husband, father and grandfather, Marino was a life-long gardener, sports enthusiast and was a member of the Wethersfield Seniors Golf, Bowling and Bocce Leagues. His favorite pastime of all was spending time with his grandchildren, including going to their school concerts, sporting events, dance recitals and just playing games with them. Besides his wife, Marino leaves two daughters, Diane Edwards and her husband, David and their children, David and Kate, all of Wethersfield; Sharon Dalicandro and her husband, Fred, and their children, Lindsay and Paige, all of Glastonbury; a sister, Constance Davies of Maine; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Louis J. Mattioli and Aldo Mattioli. Funeral services will begin Friday, February 25, at 9:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
