Martin ""Marty"" Oliver Boisvert, passed away in his home in Wethersfield on Sunday morning (November 6, 2011) at age 87. Marty was predeceased by his wife, Frances Boisvert, after 56 years of marriage. His family and friends will miss his generosity, his warmth of character and his sense of humor. Marty was an avid gardener, although his favorite part of gardening was giving away many of the tomatoes and cucumbers. His family will also miss his competitive spirit when playing Cribbage and Pinochle. Those that knew him learned early that there is a correct way to do most anything. Marty was born in Concord, New Hampshire on January 11, 1924 to Alpha and Corrine (LeCompte) Boisvert and spent his early years playing many sports across the street in the Rollins Park with his three brothers. After briefly living in Manchester, NH, the family moved to Hartford, Connecticut in 1941. Marty worked at the Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing before enlisting with the Marines on May 3, 1943. During World War II he served in the Solomon Islands. After the war ended he returned home to be trained as a carpenter. During his career he built homes, including his own home, then specialized in stairs and cabinets. Marty finished his career working as a union carpenter on many of the landmark buildings throughout Connecticut, where his skill and attention to detail remains evident. Marty met his wife Fran while living in ""Frog Hollow"" in Hartford and learned to dance so he could keep up with her. They maintained close ties to many old and new friends throughout the years. Family was the center of their lives and Marty was always ready with good advice and a good heart. He was always there to help anyone who needed it. Marty is survived by four children: three daughters, Linda DeStefanis and her husband, Ken of Rocky Hill, Barbara Farnsworth and her husband Robert of Vernon, Valerie Comeau-Palmer and her husband Matt Palmer of Maynard, Massachusetts; his son, Paul Boisvert and his wife Ann Kiley of Burlington, Vermont; as well as one surviving brother, Clement Boisvert of Hazardville, CT. Marty is also survived by his nine special grandchildren, Carl and Erin DeStefanis, Amber and Timothy Comeau, Matthew and Nicholas Boisvert, Nathan and Ryan Palmer and Ryan Farnsworth.
