
Mary Elizabeth (Walton) Homolka, 88, of Niantic, devoted wife of Everett C. Homolka, died Friday, (December 31, 2010) in Niantic. Born November 29, 1922 in East Orange, NJ, daughter of the late Nathan Paul and Josephine (Rust) Walton, Mary graduated from Scott High School and Upsala College in East Orange. She taught English at the high school prior to her marriage on October 19, 1946. While living in Livingston, NJ she was very active in local PTA organizations and served as president at all levels. She was also a member and president of the Northfield Garden Club in Livingston. Mary and Ev retired to Giants Neck Beach in East Lyme, CT in 1984 where she became very involved in the Giants Neck Beach Association, serving as president of the Board of Governors and also served as chairman of several committees. She continued her love of gardening and flowers with the Thames River Garden Club, having served as president. Mary also enjoyed playing bridge. Besides her loving husband of 65 years, Mary is survived by three caring children; two sons, Jeffrey Paul Homolka of Toms River and Lavallette, NJ and William Joseph Homolka of Manchester, VT; a daughter, Susan Homolka O'Dea of Plainville and Chester, VT and her husband Bob; two cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne (Beth) O'Dea of West Haven and Thomas Charles O'Dea of Atlanta, GA. She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Walton and a sister, Jeanette Jones. Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours.
