Mary V. Zappulla (Valenti)

Mary V. (Valenti) Zappulla, 90, of Stamford, wife of the late Sebastian A. Zappulla, died suddenly Sunday (October 07, 2012) at Stamford Hospital with her loving family by her side. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late James and Francesca (Raimondi) Valenti. Mary lived in Hartford for most of her life before moving to Glastonbury for 15 years and Stamford for the past 2+ years. She was a graduate of Hartford Public High School and Morse School of Business. She was employed as a secretary with her brother’s CPA firm but was most proud as a mother of her family. Mary is survived by two daughters; Barbara A. Zappulla and her husband Robert J. Burns of Innsbrook, MO and Janice Homicki of Stamford; four grandchildren, Tara Burns Matthews and her husband Jeff, Amy Burns Jolly and her husband Rob, Thomas Homicki and his wife Stacy and Elizabeth Homicki Hahn and her husband William as well as nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Joseph Homicki Jr., a grandson, Todd Burns, two brothers, Joseph Valenti and Sebastian Valenti and two sisters, Lucy Valenti and Carmela Valenti Plukas.

The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will immediately follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service.
