

Michael F. “Mike” Egan, 78, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for nearly 55 years of Patricia (Gianetti) Egan, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, February 18, 2016. He was born on September 11, 1937 in Hartford, son of the late Michael and Teresa (Moran) Egan, both originally from Ireland. Mike was a graduate of Hall High School, Hartford Institute of Accounting and the American International College, earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He was employed as the National Credit Manager at Hueblein for many years. He also owned Egan Real Estate as a broker and appraiser. Mike served on the Wethersfield Tax Review Board for 25 years. He was an active communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Old Wethersfield, serving as an usher and on the Finance Committee. He led an active life after retirement, traveling to Austria, Italy, The Czech Republic and cherished memories of his trips to Ireland where time was spent with his large extended family. Mike enjoyed being with his family and friends and he especially enjoyed attending the many social, academic and athletic events of his six grandchildren. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mike will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Patricia; two daughters, Jacquelyn Cometz and husband David of Mount Laurel, NJ and Deborah Dizes and husband Sandor of Wethersfield and the pride and joy of his life, adored grandchildren Alexa, Lindsay and Jillian Cometz and Carter, Alexandra and Olivia Dizes who all lovingly referred to him as Papa. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Fithian, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, John Egan; brother-in-law, Richard Gianetti and wife Jacqueline and brother-in-law, John Fithian.
Funeral services will begin Tuesday (February 23) at 9:15 a.m. from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Hartford Ave., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
