

Nancy (Cassino) Sarli, of Hartford, loving wife of the late Ralph Sarli, passed away peacefully, Sunday (May 22, 2011) two weeks shy of her 102nd birthday. She was born June 7, 1909 in Yonkers, New York and was the daughter of the late Peter and Joanne Cassino. Nancy formerly lived on Front Street, Hartford and was well known for her cooking. Nancy was awarded ""Mother of the Year"" by the Hartford Courant in 1992 basically for her work with prisoners who were in need of a place to stay and a hot meal. She loved to walk and socialize. She will be missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her son, Michael Sarli of Hartford with whom she made her home; daughters, Jeanne Bowen of Hartford and Mary Ann Sousa of Somers; 12 grandchildren, Nancy, Richard J. IV, Robert, Kevin and Doreen Bowen; Nancy Ann, Edward III and Christina Sousa; Gloria Nucci, Thomas, James and Patricia Eldridge; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Antoinette Eldridge and a son, Peter A. Sarli. A special thank you to the Lord for giving our mother 101 years, 11 months and 14 days of a good life. ""Jesus, we trust in you."" Funeral service will be Wednesday,(May 25th) at 10:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Wednesday, from 8:15- 10:15 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
