Nicholas Gerald Bonadies,

Nicholas Gerald Bonadies, Sr., of Wethersfield, passed away Monday (March 15, 2010) after a battle with cancer. Nick lived in Hartford for the early part of his life before moving to Rocky Hill to start his adult life. He and his wife, Marybeth, recently moved back to Connecticut after a short residence in South Carolina. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Rose (Laraia) Bonadies. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marybeth (Doherty) Bonadies; his daughter, Staci and husband Anthony Cretella; sons, Nicholas and Robert Bonadies and Joseph Rizzuto; son, Anthony and wife Rita Bonadies; grandson Anthony Michael; his sister, Geri and husband, Frank Saracino; several brothers and sisters-in-law; aunts and uncles, countless cousins and friends, too many to mention. Nick served in the U.S. Army before starting his career at the Metropolitan District Commission, retiring after 34 years in 1993 as a Senior Budget Analyst. He is past president of the MDC, 25 Year Club and the Greater Hartford Postal Council. He also served on the Board of Directors of the MDC Credit Union. Most recently, Nick was employed by St. James Church as the Facilities Manager. Nick was a complete Lionel Train fanatic and loved his American Muscle Cars. Family and friends may pay their respects at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield on Friday, March 19, from 3-7 p.m. and again Saturday, March 20 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 20, at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 767 Elm St., Rocky Hill. The burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Hartford. Nick's family would like to send their heart felt thanks to Dr. Rathman and Dr. Shumway as well as the staff at Saint Francis Cancer Center and the staff of Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill.
