

Nicholas John Grano, age 75, was born in Hartford on Christmas Eve of 1948. He attended Wethersfield High School, where he and his brother Joe became legends. Nick passed away at his home in Bradenton, Florida, on July 26, 2024 after a long illness with his wife Linda and son Scott by his side. Nick proudly served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne division as a paratrooper. He fought in the Vietnam War and earned several medals, including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He also served as a selectman in the town of Windsor, Vermont, where he owned and operated the Windsor Diner for many years. Nick was devoted to his family and leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Linda (Taverna); a son, Scott Nicholas and three much loved grandchildren, Mikayla, Gregory and Lillian. In addition, he leaves his brothers, Joseph and wife Kathy, Bill and wife Angela, Chris, Clint and wife Tina; his best friend and "Bro," Don Smith and wife Marianne and many cherished nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Joan (Phelps) and his brother, Rodger.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, August 4, from 2-5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
