Ninetta Antonnina DiSalvo

Ninetta “Antonnina” DiSalvo, 86, beloved mother to Sandy and Frank, treasured grandmother to Renee, Jessica and Justin and great-grandmother to Justin, Jonathan, Joshua and Jenni, departed from this earth on Thursday (March 29, 2012). She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2006 and fought a courageous battle to overcome this disease. Ninetta was born on October 28, 1925 in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, to Joseph and Maria (Sipala) Cassarino. Upon graduation from college she came to Connecticut in 1947 to visit family and met the love of her life, whom she married in 1948. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank DiSalvo who passed in 1988. Ninetta was a long time resident of Windsor where she was an active participant in the community and church. She always gave to others and was a mentor to many, both professionally and personally. Ninetta retired in 1988 after a long career with CIGNA in Underwriting. She delighted her family and friends with her exceptional culinary skills. One of her greatest joys was having her family around the dinner table laughing and conversing. Those who participated hold memories they will cherish forever. She is survived by her daughter, Sandy DiSalvo; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Cheryl DiSalvo; her grandchildren, Renee and Salvatore DiNino, Jessica and Jamaal Legette, Justin and Susan DiSalvo and her great-grandchildren, Justin and Jonathan DiSalvo, Joshua and Jenni Legette. She is also survived by her brother, Aurelio Cassarino and a dear sister-in-law, Kirsten Cassarino, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be private. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours.
