As a child, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Hartford, growing up on Front Street. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Mary (Mirabello) Basile, whom he was married to for 64 years. He leaves behind his children, Frank and Terri Basile, Pamela, John and Lisa, Mary Jayne and Brad Pederson. He is survived by his treasured grandchildren; Scott and Barb, Brian and Kristen, Matt , Erik, Jenna, Lindsay, and great granddaughter Juliana. He was also predeceased by his brother Joseph, and Joseph’s wife, Mary. He leaves behind his brother-in-laws, Anthony Mirabello, Frank and Ann Mirabello, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He served as a private in the First Army Tank Batallion in 1944. He was captured and was a prisoner of war during The Battle of the Bulge, in Belgium. After returning from the war, Nunzio began his 47 year career as an electrician at The Royal/Konica Company. Zip was an avid golfer for most of his life and a communicant of Saint Augustine’s Church. He especially enjoyed time with his family at the lake, and sharing Sunday dinners on South Street. He was a kind, honorable man, with a generous soul, who touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a true hero, not only while serving his country, but even more so in the eyes of his family. May he rest in peace with his beloved wife by his side. A special thank you to Dr. Wong for her compassionate care, as well as Marcia, the chemo nurses, and Diane from the hospice at West Haven VA. Funeral services will be Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will be in Mt.
