Paul Joseph Lord, 71, beloved husband of Nancy (Tevald) Lord, of Rocky Hill, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021. Paul was born in Hartford and was son of the late George and Loretta (Bergeron) Lord. Paul was a resident of Wethersfield for 34 years, just recently moving to Rocky Hill. Paul grew up in Hartford’s South End, graduating South Catholic High School, and had been the Night Manager and bartender at the Hartford Elks for 34 years until his retirement in 2020. During his time working at the Elks, he made many friends. He welcomed you as you walked in and enjoyed great conversations with everyone there. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan. Paul will especially be remembered for enjoying a fine cigar while relaxing on the beach with the warm sun shining on his face and his favorite cocktail in his hand. His favorite vacation spot was Myrtle Beach where he and Nancy traveled annually for many years. Along with his beloved wife, Nancy, Paul will be dearly missed by his two sons, Justin Paul Lord and Michael Joseph Lord, both of Rocky Hill; his precious granddaughter, Jocelyn Elizabeth Lord; his two brothers, Richard and Gerard Lord, both of Hartford; a step son Kenneth Tevald; sisters-in-law, Janice Gengras of Wethersfield, and Joanne Bjorkman of Clinton; brother-in-law, Clancy Kaye and his wife Edith, of Holyoke, MA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and close and dear friends, which includes his Lodge brothers and sisters and fellow communicants of Holy Trinity Church. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Robert Lord and father and mother in law, Edward and Frances Tevald. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 53 Capital Avenue, Hartford, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in Mt. Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield is entrusted with Paul’s arrangements. We were so touched by what the priest said at Paul's funeral mass in regards to the love Paul shared with his family. Nancy, you and Paul also raised compassionate sons, in one situation, exemplified by them insisting on paying for the priest's ice cream.
With heartfelt condolences,
Denise (Lord) and Jim Gander

Nancy,
Paul was a great person, I went to grammar school with him.
The nuns at st. Ann's where something else. Paul and I where always getting into trouble with them. Paul always made you feel like a friend even if you did not see him for a while. The conversation would pick right back up wherever you left it with him.
Visiting him at the Elks Lodge in Hartford, he always made you feel like you belonged there.
Paul was a great friend and will be missed.
Him and I had some great memories from school.

I had the honor of being Paul's next door neighbor for over 30 years. Paul was a real family man, nothing mattered more to him than his family. He always spoke proudly of his two sons, Justin and Michael, great young men who I had the pleasure of seeing grow up. When Michael was young, he spent a lot of time with me, always lots of questions, I enjoyed taking him on hikes with my dog.
My heart goes out for Nancy and the boys, this will be a difficult transition, Nancy and Paul were so close.
Bless you all.

Nancy, Justin, Michael,

I am so sorry for your loss. Having seen Paul last month, I would have never thought we would be saying our final good-byes so soon.

The Elks hasn’t been the same since Paul retired. There were no strangers to Paul, just friends he hadn’t met yet. He always greeted everyone who walked through the doors with a personal greeting (after he let them in - he would always goof with me when I rang the buzzer). He always remembered everyone’s name once he met them. I always admired that. I haven’t been in the club much since the pandemic but I will think of Paul each time I go. I will miss his sense of humor, the gags he pulled on people and just seeing him behind the bar.

My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
