

Paul Pantano, 90, of Wethersfield, left this earth peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday (January 14, 2014) with his family by his side. His beloved wife of over 50 years, Grace (Campione) Pantano and his parents were there to greet him. He was born on February 19, 1923 in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Sicily, the son of Emmanuele and Lucia (Golino) Pantano. Paul was well known as the owner of GP Mason Construction and the Hidden Valley Club of Rocky Hill. Paul had a passion for soccer. As a well known goalie, he formed and managed one of the first professional teams of the area, The Hartford Soccer Club. In 1965, he was named American Soccer League Manager of the Year. Paul was also a member of the Canicattinese Society and enjoyed wine making, cooking, sports and spending time with his family. He will be missed by his loving son, Manny Pantano; cherished grandchildren, Manny Pantano and his fiancée Keeley Sayles and Cassandra DuBois and her husband Jeffrey. He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Josephine Campione; sisters, Concetta Salemi, Paulina Migliorati and her husband Bernardo, Mary Matrone and her husband Peter and Seraphina Cavalieri; his brother, Sal and his wife Nenetta; niece, Nella Kosciukiewicz and nephew, Armando Migliorati, as well as many other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives. Paul was predeceased by his brothers, Santo and Sebastian; sister, Leah Ambrosio and brother-in-law, Geno Campione. The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Maple View Manor. Funeral services will leave on Friday (January 17) at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 66 Bolton St., Hartford. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
