Born in Montreal Quebec Canada, October 28, 1934, Pauline was a long-time resident of Waterbury, CT. She proudly became an American citizen in 1964 yet retained her love of her homeland, Canada.
Many will know her as a State of Connecticut employee retiring in 1998 as Manager of the Fairfield County Department of Motor Vehicle offices, both the Norwalk office and at the time, the Stamford satellite office. She would tell us about prior jobs: St. Mary’s Hospital and Scovill’s Manufacturing among others back in the day. She raised her girls as a single mom working, always, however, and wherever she could.
She was an avid golfer. Pauline was a member for several years of EMWGA at East Mountain. She won many tournament trophies, single and team with her bestie Susan Bournival. Susan being the much better player, as Pauline would always let us know. She was also a voracious reader; mysteries being her favorite genre. In her last year, TV sports was her entertainment of choice.
Pauline was a world traveler. She took trips to China, Russia, Europe and Morocco. Within our continent, frequent trips to Montreal to see family, Savannah GA, NYC’s Broadway, Disney World, and a cruise to Alaska to name a few. Her first language, French enabled her to travel easily, converting her knowledge of language to get along in Italian or Spanish. Always curious to learn about other people and unfamiliar cultures. She was a global citizen.
She leaves behind her daughters, Laura Oliver Kerepesi and her husband, Stephen, Michelle Oliver and her husband, Dennis Behunick. Her grandchildren; Jason Kerepesi, Alexa Kerepesi Coppa, Mia Behunick, Sophia Behunick, and Denny Behunick. As well as her great-grandchildren; Leonardo Kerepesi, Joe Kerepesi and Camilla Coppa. Pauline also adored her grandchildren’s spouses, Josh Coppa (married to Alexa) and Andrea Lynch (married to Jason).
Those who loved her will remember her strength, endless resourcefulness, fierce loyalty and fierce unwavering love, and in her later years: the 10:00am Budweiser - because Why not? Where am I going?
We thank the staff at The Ivy in Watertown. Although an independent resident, she was given friendly and helpful guidance and attendance from the staff there.
We thank Cristina Orsini and the D’Esopo Funeral Home for their expert care.
As Pauline wished, all services will remain private. In lieu of contributions or gifts, show each one you meet kindness, love and acceptance.
