

Peter James Letizio, 82, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of the late Gloria (Urbanoski) Letizio, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 4, 2017. Born on Christmas Day 1934 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Christiana) Letizio. He grew up in Hartford and was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. Peter worked as a meat cutter and also as a custodian at the Burns Elementary School and Naylor School, both in Hartford. He was a member of the Sons of Italy, Elks Lodge #179 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #94, both in Minnesota. Peter was an outdoorsman and an avid fan of the New York Yankees, Minnesota Vikings and UConn Women’s Basketball. He also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City. He will be forever missed by his children, Perry Letizio and wife Sharon, Dawn Letizio and Samantha Letizio-Dos Santos and husband Sergio; step-daughters, Kimberly Beale, Virginia Guay and Cheryl Murray; ten adored grandchildren, Mark, Marissa, Corey, Seth, Rachel, Heather, T.J., Kyle, Alyssa and Hunter and seven cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemarie Manente and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Andrea Letizio; seven brothers, Carmen, Dominic, Joseph, Michael, Anthony, Frank and James Letizio and two sisters, Theresa Dickinson and Bertha Papolio. A special thank you to the men and women at Ellis Manor for the amazing care given to Peter during his stay.
The funeral will begin Friday (December 8) at 10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. at NewLife Christian Fellowship Church, 1155 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
