

It is with great sadness that the family of Rocco LaCava announces his passing on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the age of 85 years. Rocco was the beloved husband of Innocenza (Forte) LaCava. Born on October 28, 1932 in Saracena, Province of Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Alberto and Madalena (Tolisano) LaCava. Rocco and Innocenza moved to Hartford in 1958 and began their family. Rocco retired from the Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company after many years of dedicated service. For many years, Rocco was a dedicated member of the St. Leone Society. After his retirement, Rocco enjoyed time spent in his garden, always sharing what he grew with his family and friends. He was a self-taught carpenter, creating the most beautiful pieces of furniture that he gifted to his family. Rocco could also always be seen with a camera in hand, he loved to take pictures of his garden, nature and his family. Most of all, he was a truly devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Rocco will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Innoncenza, his son Robert, two grandchildren, Angie and Melanie Mouta, his niece Mary Schuberth, nephews Vincent Gagliardi and Matthew Schuberth, cousins Lisa and Donald Tolisano. His sisters Caterina and Annina, brother Gaetano and brother-in-law Antonio Vernilo in Italy. In addition to his parents, Rocco was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Rocco Gagliardi and Francesco Gagliardi, sister-in-law Isabella Gagliardi. He is now reunited with his daughter Madeline Mouta.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield.
