

Savino A. ""Sabu"" Civitillo of Old Saybrook, beloved husband of Joanne (Bell) Civitillo died peacefully at home on January 1, 2011. Born in Hartford, son of John M. and Margaret (Proccacino) Civitillo, he lived in Wethersfield for many years before retiring to his home in Old Saybrook. Mr. Civitillo was an owner and officer of Civitillo Masonry in Newington along with his brothers Nicholas and John. A member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 for over 60 years, he took great pride in his work and the men who worked with him. His love of work was second only to his love of family. He served in the 808th Military Police Company at Camp Drum in Watertown, NY during the Korean War. Besides his wife he is survived by his brother John and his wife Lorraine of Wethersfield, his daughter Patti Civitillo of Rocky Hill, his sons Michael Civitillo and his wife Lisa of Ivoryton, Steven Civitillo and his wife Sandy of Middletown, James Daly and his wife Barbara of Centerbrook and Christopher Daly and his wife Mary of Wethersfield. He was predeceased by his wife Marguerite (Reilly), his brother Nicholas, his daughter Nancy and son Michael Daly. He dearly loved his grandchildren Savino and Robert Civitillo of Middletown and Christopher, Emma, Tommy and Julia Daly of Wethersfield. He was a loving and proud father, grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him. The funeral is Wednesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
