

Sebastian 'Sam' Maulucci Sr., 92, of Newington, beloved husband of the late Anna (DeBellis) Maulucci, passed away Sunday (January 13, 2008). He was born November 29, 1915 in Buffalo, NY, son of the late Joseph and Philomena (DeVito) Maulucci. Sam had an amazing work ethic. He worked at First National Foods, Fuller Bush, and for over 55 years was the owner and operator of Sam Maulucci & Sons, an Italian dairy products business. Sam was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Newington. He loved the beach, especially Soundview Beach, and enjoyed his roses and peonies and would give them to the 'girls' at the Olympia Diner. Sam is survived by his two sons Allan Maulucci and his wife Cheryl of East Hartford and Sebastian Maulucci, Jr. and his wife Jane of Bloomfield; and his three daughters, Penelope LaCasse and her husband Ronald of East Hartland, Phyllis Nelson and her husband Andrew of Mount Pleasant, SC, and Rosemary Poitras and her husband Dennis of Newington. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ronald, Jr. and Gregory LaCasse, Allan Maulucci, Jr., Michael Maulucci, Carol LaChance, Julia Pastuer, Michael Tracy, Nicholas and Michael Poitras and David Maulucci; and 14 great-grandchildren. Sam is also survived by his brother, Richard Maulucci and his wife Beverly of Wethersfield; and his sister Maria Guglietta of West Hartford. Sam's family would like to express their gratitude to Katie at the VNA, Valerie and Dr. Laut from Dr. Laut's offices, Linda from Dr. Rossi's office, and the 11th floor at Hartford Hospital for their care and compassion for Sam and his family. Funeral services will leave Thursday, January 17 at 10:30a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30a.m. at Holy Spirit Church, Newington. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7p.m. at the funeral chapel.
