

Sterina (Gabianelli) Vacco, 93, of Wethersfield, faithful wife of the late Samuel J. Vacco, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday (June 5, 2013). Born in Hartford on May 30, 1920, she was the fifth child of the late Caesar and Maria (Isabettini) Gabianelli. She was a graduate of St. Peter's School and Bulkeley High School in Hartford. She lived in Hartford for many years before moving to Wethersfield over 40 years ago. Sterina retired from the Hartford School System as a paraprofessional at Burns School. She had a gift for teaching remedial students. She was a daily communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Wethersfield and was a part of the rosary group after Mass. She enjoyed exercising well into her 80's as well as shopping, traveling and eating in fine restaurants. Sterina is survived by her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Don Chomick; three grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica and Bryan Peterson, Atty. David Chomick and his wife Nicole and Atty. Jonathan ""Jake"" Chomick and his wife Katie; and nine great-grandchildren, Olivia, Sam, Danny, Grace, Julia, Michael, Anna, Mark and Jane Chomick. She was predeceased by her brother, Peter Gabianelli and three sisters, Ernestine Lasky, Yolanda Baldi and Norina Gabianelli. The family is deeply indebted to the many wonderful caregivers who lovingly took care of Sterina. Many thanks to all of you.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. In keeping with Sterina's wishes, there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sterina's memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, C/O St. James Church, 896 Main St., Manchester, CT 06040.
