

Steven J. Joanis, 60, of Wethersfield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Born in Hartford on December 22, 1962 to Marie Joanis and the late Norman Joanis. Steven started his working career pumping gas at the age of 15, later to become the owner of several gas stations and repair shops. He owned and managed a successful, family-run shop, Steve’s Automotive in Glastonbury where he and his faithful team serviced thousands of loyal clients. Steven was often getting excited about a new hobby, but he always loved to ski, fish, visit Vermont, and never grew out of his love for all things Disney. He will be remembered for his generosity, silly disposition, penchant for adventure and bright white smile.
Along with his mother, he leaves his devoted daughter, Haley Joanis and fiancé Ryan Gannon; his son, Christopher Joanis and wife Melanie and their son whom he loved so deeply, Joshua J. Joanis; three step-sons, Nate Sidlik, Cory Lillberg and Vincenet Callahan, III ; his two sisters, Gerry Devanney and Kim Joanis; and his many adored cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special mentions to Héctor Rivera, Thomas Devanney, Stephanie Joanis, John Serignese and the mother of his children, Kathleen Callahan. In addition to his father, Steven was also predeceased by his cousin and close friend, Paul V. Joanis.
There will a Mass for Steven at Christ the King Parish (formerly known by friends and family as Corpus Christi) 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield on Friday, September 29 at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Donations in Steven’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield has been entrusted with the arrangements.
