

Victor E. 'Manny' Grano, 82, of Columbia, loving husband of Eva (Proulx) Grano for 55 years, passed away peacefully, Saturday (November 14, 2009), at home with his family by his bedside. He was born May 8, 1927 in Hartford and was the son of the late Nicholas and Angelina (Oliveri) Grano. He lived in Hartford many years prior to moving to Columbia. Manny was a proud WWII, US Army veteran. He was a member of the VFW Post # 10589. In his younger days Manny was a professional boxer. He was formerly a Hartford Firefighter and was retired from Teamsters Local 671. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Manny loved life and had a quick wit. He had the ability to always make people laugh. 'Hey, Hey, Hey' He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends. Besides his devoted wife, Eva; he is survived by his daughters, Stacie Grano and spouse, Chad Hopp of Columbia and Laurie Grano and spouse, Michael DiPietro of Coconut Creek, FL; grandchildren, Jason, Brianna and Colby; sisters, Ann Matteis and Nancy Tarquinio; brothers, Anthony Grano and Rodger Grano; many nephews and nieces, among them a very special nephew, Joseph J. Grano, Jr. He was predeceased by brothers, Albert Grano, Nicholas A. Grano and Joseph J. Grano, Sr.; and his wife, Joan Grano and a sister, Rose Drena. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Avenue, Hartford. The burial with full military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are Monday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
