Vincenza Zina Lagana

Vincenza ""Zina"" Lagana, 83, of Newington, beloved wife of Sebastiano Lagana, died Tuesday (November 30, 2010) in Hartford. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Paolo and Concetta (Gionfriddo) Bombaci and had lived in Newington for the past 44 years. Following graduation from Hartford Public High School in 1946, Vincenza worked as the senior bookkeeper for the Connecticut Bank and Trust Co. until 1963 when she returned home as a homemaker and mother. She loved her family more than anything else. She always had kind words to share and will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate to have known her. Vinnie will be remembered for her smiling face that could be seen daily in the credit office of G. Fox/Filene's/Macy's at the Westfarms Mall. Besides her devoted husband, she is survived by a son, Steven Lagana of West Hartford, a daughter, Linda Unzueta and a granddaughter, Natalie Unzueta of Las Vegas. The funeral will be Saturday (December 4) beginning at 8:45 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church Street, Newington. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Friday (December 3) from 1-4 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
