

Walter J. Fitzgibbon Jr., 79, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Beverly G. Fitzgibbon for 56 years, died peacefully, Saturday, April 13, 2013 at home. Walter, son of the late Walter J. Fitzgibbon and Kathryn Moylan Fitzgibbon, was born in Hartford, August 9, 1933. He was a graduate of Bulkeley High School and Boston College. Walter joined Aetna in 1955 immediately after graduating from college and spent his entire career there, retiring in 1994 as Vice President and Corporate Actuary. Walter was a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Williams-Romano and her husband Carmen Romano of Bridgeport, West Virginia; a daughter, Eileen Bodington of Wethersfield; a daughter, Nancy Fitzgibbon and her husband, Tony Mastroianni of Rocky Hill; a sister, Maureen McGarvey and her husband, Joseph, of Glenview, Illinois; a sister, Claire Kaufman Maloney of Wethersfield; a brother, J. Gerald Fitzgibbon and his wife, Nancy, of Hackettstown, NJ; a sister, Joan Spargo of Aurora, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Dr. Jessica Williams and her husband, Drew Meyers; Christopher and Kevin Williams; Sam Romano and his wife, Stacey; James Bodington and his wife, Katherine Hugh; Heather, Joseph, Jeffrey and Matthew Bodington; Beverly Francesca Mastroianni; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 17th at 11:00 am at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial immediately following at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 17th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
