

William Henry ""Bill"" McKinney, 86, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband for 61 years of Elizabeth ""Betty"" (Olsen) McKinney, passed away on Friday (January 21, 2011). He was born in Hartford, son of the late Frederick and Ethel (Brinkman) McKinney. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was proud of his military heritage – his grandfather served in the Civil War and his great-great-grandfather served in the Revolutionary War. Bill worked as a claims supervisor for Aetna Insurance/CIGNA for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Rocky Hill Congregational Church and church choir, worked at the local polling stations, volunteered with the American Red Cross, Rocky Hill Little League, Rocky Hill Board of Parks and Recreation and the Rocky Hill Board of Tax Review. Besides his wife Betty, Bill is survived by his son, Alan W. McKinney and his wife, Judy of Auburn, ME; his two daughters Joan M. Carlson and her husband George of Glastonbury and Judy A. Frascarelli and her husband Art of Colchester; his two beloved granddaughters, Lisa and Eileen McKinney; his sister Doris Maycock and her husband John of Wethersfield and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard and a sister, Marjorie. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, (January 29) at 10 a.m. at the Rocky Hill Congregational Church, 805 Old Main Street, Rocky Hill. Burial will be private in Center Cemetery, Rocky Hill.
