William “Slick” Wyslick, 55, of Portland, CT, beloved husband of Susan (Larson) Wyslick for 30 years, passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on Monday, June 28th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Norwalk on March 31, 1966, he was the devoted son of Stanley and Barbara (Reardon) Wyslick of Newtown. Slick graduated from Newtown High School in 1984 and Bryant University in 1988. He made a career in the IT and auditing fields, spending the last 26 years at the United Illuminating Company, where he made friendships that will last a lifetime. In addition to his wife and parents, he will be forever missed by his cherished children: his daughter Morgan (Wyslick) Sears and her husband Brandon of Andover, his twin sons Matthew and Tyler of Portland, his sister Jennifer Wyslick and her wife Dawn Hough of New Milford, CT, his brother-in-law Russell Larson and his wife Ann-Marie of Cobalt, his nephew Alex Larson of Newburg, MD, and his nephew and godson, David Larson of Brighton, MA. He was predeceased by his father, Stanley Wyslick and his aunt, Marge Welch.
Slick was a man who was loved by all and always lit up any room he was in. He had the gift of making everyone laugh and his personality was second to none. His greatest joy was his family and nothing made him happier than attending his kids’ school events. Slick was the type of father every man would aspire to be, and his children could not be more proud to call him theirs. He was a second father to all of his kid’s friends. He was their coach and biggest fan. Slick loved sports and was a lifelong fan of the New York Jets and New York Mets, despite all of the playful banter from his friends. Playing golf was his passion, and he was a proud member of the Men’s Club at Quarry Ridge where he loved spending Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings with his golfing buddies. Summers were spent at the family cottage on Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire – the best place on earth. Oh how he loved to float on that black inner tube with friends and family alike.
We would like to thank all the members of Team Slick who supported us when we needed it the most. The generosity and kindness we received and continue to receive is overwhelming and truly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 6th from 3 to 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Slick’s memory to the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, Hartford Hospital, Department of Philanthropy, 80 Seymour Street, PO Box 5037, Hartford, CT 06102.
