Karen Yancey Kennedy

Karen Yancey Kennedy, 71, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. She was born on June 3, 1952 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Marie Sipe Yancey. Karen was a member of Weyers Cave United Methodist Church and the Verona moose. She enjoyed the company of friends while watching local bands perform and playing Bingo. She was a devoted employee at George’s Food for 35 years. She loved being at her home in New Hope with her spouse, two sons and grandson. She was a collector of anything Mickey Mouse. Karen was one of the kindest individuals anyone would have had the pleasure to meet. There was never a time where she was not smiling and cheerful. She would have celebrated her 55th anniversary on April 7, 2024 along with her husband, Thomas J. Kennedy, Sr., who survives. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Thomas J. Kennedy, Jr. and fiancé, Stephanie M. Hupman and Christopher M. Kennedy; her grandchildren, Kayla N. White, Cheyenne D. Kennedy, Brandon J. Kennedy and fiancé, Alyssa, Sierra M. Wright-Kennedy, Blake M. Kennedy, Dixie M. Hupman, Harlee Balser and Isaiah J. Kennedy; several great-grandchildren, Addilyn White, Sadie Smith, Caroline Lawson, Adalida, Abigail and Allison Turner, Xander and Grover Foreman; and a sister, Linda Stickley and husband, Scott. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 pm, Friday, April 19, 2024 at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave. Honoring her wishes, she will be cremated.
