

Melanson, Chester John – 82, of Doucetteville, passed away May 15, 2011 at home. Born November 23, 1928 in Doucetteville, Chester was a son of the late Herbert and Isabel (Amero) Melanson. Chester enjoyed being a hunting guide, and had a passion for farming. He also enjoyed puzzles. He was employed with the Dept. of Highways for many years. Chester was very happily married to his wife of 54 years, Helen. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter Julie (Thomas) Theriault, Belliveau’s Cove; son Malcolm (Trudy Koxk) Melanson, Doucetteville; grandchildren Jonathan Theriault, Halifax; Alicia Theriault and Brandon Theriault, both of Belliveau’s Cove; adopted sister June Melanson, Digby; nieces Isabel Marshall, Clementsport; Nancy Thibault, Doucetteville; nephews Gary McCayour, Stewart McCayour, Nelson McCayour, Mark McCayour, all of St. John, NB; Russel Melanson, Doucetteville; Wayne Melanson, Alberta. Besides his parents, Chester was predeceased by an infant son, Joseph, brothers Herman, Reid and brother Russel in infancy, sister Sadie McCayour. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9pm Thursday in Jayne’s Funeral Home, Weymouth North (245-2525) Funeral mass 11am Friday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Plympton, Father Keith Billiard presiding. Interment in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Doucetteville.
