Marian Tanoos Callahan, the youngest child of Ellis and Elizabeth Tanoos, was born on November 29, 1926 in Bayou Goula, Louisiana. She passed away on August 20, 2017, at the age of 90 while in the loving care of the staff at Village on the Park Assisted Living facility in Houston, Texas. She graduated from White Castle High School in 1943, and went on to attend LSU. Marian had the heart of a servant and spent a decade caring for children and families in Iberville parish as a social worker. She served her beloved Catholic church in her many years of volunteering at the church office of Our Lady of Prompt Succor parish in White Castle, LA. She was also a fearless Girl Scout leader for years and loved each girl as her own. She was a loving and faithful wife of 51 years to Owen J. Callahan, Sr., who preceded her in death. Marian was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Her memory will be cherished by three children, Owen Jr. (Christine) Callahan of Orlando, FL, Philip (Kimberly) Callahan of Dallas, TX and Angela (John) Morgan of Cypress, TX. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Owen Callahan III, Connor Callahan, Katherine Morgan and John Morgan, Jr.
Her family would like to express their gratitude to Village on the Park Senior Living Community, which has been her home for the last nine years. It was a place of security, friendship and activity that brought her much happiness. We are also grateful for Home Health Resources whose caregivers were considered more family than service providers. Lastly, thank you to Bristol Hospice for making her last weeks comfortable and full of new friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian burial for 11:00 am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in White Castle, LA. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. To send the family condolences, please sign the online guestbook at www.oursofhwhitecastle.com
