Barbara M. “Bobbie” (Schopmeier) Labagh (86) passed away at Crestwood Manor in Whiting, NJ, on February 4, 2016 after a short illness. Born and raised in Hackensack, she was a lifelong resident of NJ, living in Hackensack, Ridgewood, Chester and Whiting. She was the daughter of the late George E. and Helen (Randall) Schopmeier and the wife of the late Everett L. Labagh, who died in 1999.
“Bobbie,” as she was known to family and friends, enjoyed bowling, playing the piano, jigsaw puzzles, eating out, driving around the state and helping others. She was graduated from Hackensack High School in the Class of 1947. She was a member of the Community Reformed Church of Whiting, and had previously been active at the First Reformed Church of Hackensack and the First Presbyterian Church of Ridgewood. She was a Past Matron of Elizabethtown Chapter #39, Order of the Eastern Star, and traveled extensively with her husband in his volunteer service as Grand Commander, and later as Grand Recorder, of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of New Jersey.
Barbara is survived by her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth “Betty” Ault, of Warwick, NY; her son, Tom, and daughter-in-law Ginny, of Elizabethtown, PA; and her beloved grandchildren, Kira and her husband John Jahoda, of Laurel, MD, David and his wife Amy, of Elizabethtown, PA, Michael and his wife Kristen, of Glendale, CO, and Kari, of San Diego, CA.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10-11am with Services beginning at 11am from the Community Reformed Church, 30 Lacey Road, Whiting. Interment will follow at the First Reformed Church of Hackensack at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Reformed Church of Whiting, or a charity of your choice.
