

Ellen (Tierney) Forte, 76, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Hamilton Place at The Pines in Whiting. Ellen was born in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in West New York, NJ and North Bergen, NJ. She attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. After graduation, Ellen was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York and went on to work as an administrative assistant in Manhattan.
Ellen’s true passion in life was to become a mother. In 1975, Ellen married Andrew Forte, II, who was her neighbor and widowed father of three young children. She became a mother to his 3 boys, and they eventually added 2 more boys to their family. They raised their family in North Bergen and later, Toms River, where Ellen worked as an assistant at the Mulvaney, Coronato & Brady law firm and the Cassie Group. In 2016, shortly after Andrew passed away, Ellen moved to Whiting.
When the family was living in Piscataway, NJ, Ellen was very active in the Lady of Fatima PTA. She was very proud of her Irish Heritage and the “Dooley Clan”. She always looked forward to “Papa’s Party”, an annual family reunion in honor of her maternal grandfather “Tom Dooley”. Her love of the Jersey Shore included family vacation week in Manasquan, NJ. She will be dearly missed.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband, Andrew Forte, II; an infant daughter; her parents, Robert & Anastasia Tierney; her 2 sisters, Melanie Herenda and Stacie Bochman; and her brother, Danny Tierney. She is survived by her 5 sons, Andrew Forte, III and his wife Linda, Louis Forte and his wife Sharon, Douglas Forte and his wife Deanna, Robert Forte and his wife Erin, and Thomas Forte; 8 grandchildren, Richard, Melissa and her husband Joe, Joseph, Meghan, Daniel, Katelyn, Kennedy, and Grayson; and 4 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Olivia, Thomas and Madison. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Tierney; sister, Kerri Campen and her husband George; and her beloved Cairn Terrier, Arya.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 9:30 am at St. Justin the Martyr Roman Catholic Church, 975 Fischer Boulevard, Toms River, NJ.
