

Fern died peacefully at her home at Whiting Gardens in NJ surrounded by family and her loving caregivers.
Legacy
Fern survived Cancer 3 times and was a caregiver herself working well into her 70’s as a home health nurse. Born in East Orange she originally lived in Maplewood, NJ, raised her family of 7 in Brick Town before retiring to Whiting for 15 years prior to living at Whiting Gardens for several years. Fern’s favorite things to do were bird watching, writing poems short stories and her love of animals besides birds she loved dogs. Her favorite birds were the red cardinals which she often wrote about. “Mom was a loyal Christian women and made sure her 7 children attended Calgary Presbyterian Church in Bricktown regularly on Sunday. Sometimes we bought candy with our offering money on the way to church this was a secret up until now sorry mom.” She loved her family and had no favorites she loved us equally and often made up funny nicknames for us like Iggy, Boobie, Bum Bum, Little Lil La, Crown Royal, Suzzzzy! She just called her former husband John and her lst born Johnny I think they were spared from nicknames.

She is survived by her former husband John C. Hawkins Sr, her 7 children Johnny C. Hawkins Jr. and wife Lori, Karen Deckman, Linda Odgers, Allen aka “Iggy” Hawkins and wife Linda, Barbara Hawkins and husband Rick, Suzy Whishart and husband Kenny and Roy Hawkins. She had 9 Grandchildren John III, Timothy, Julie, Matt, Ryan, Brittany, Christopher, Nicole and the youngest angel Skylar age 10. She had 5 Great Grandchildren Ellie, Andie, Chase, Landon and Ryder.
Remembrance
A Celebration of Life will be Monday December 1, from 12-2pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home 115 Lacey Rd Whiting. Services will begin at 1:30 pm.
Honor
Donations were made towards Jewish Hunger Program.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Jersey Shore Animal Center 185 Brick Blvd Brick Township.
