Florence “Dolly” Butters, 92, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025 at Care One at East Brunswick where she lived and considered home. A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, Dolly leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
Born with a gentle heart and a generous spirit, Dolly dedicated her life to her family. She was the proud mother to five children, grandmother to six, and great-grandmother to five. She will be deeply missed by her son Daniel Butters, daughter Deva Gelsleichter, Deva’s husband Bill, and their children Billy, Sean and Krystina, as well as Krystina’s fiancé Tim Nappi. Her love for her family was boundless and ever-present.
Dolly is preceded in death by the true love of her life, her husband Walter, who passed away five years ago. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, and they are now reunited.
Dolly spent 45 wonderful years living in Jackson before moving to Whiting with her husband. She worked for many years as a lunch lady in the Jackson School System, where she greeted countless children with a warm smile and a kind word. Her gentle nature left an impression on everyone she met.
Dolly’s legacy is one of compassion, devotion, and love. She touched many lives and will be forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
May she rest in eternal peace
