

Fred was born in Detroit. The family eventually settled in Perth Amboy. Fred served in the Navy prior to marrying his wife, Dolores. The couple lived in Plainfield for a number of years before moving to Hunterdon County in 1971. Fred and Dolores relocated to Whiting in 2004.
Fred was a painting contractor for many years and also worked at the A&P supermarket in Clinton, and later at the Manchester Twp. Shop-Rite. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing.

Surviving Fred are a son, Fred Jr., and his partner, Robert Mennie, of Plainfield; a daughter, Lori-Ann Tonte, and her boyfriend, Manny Cartagena, of Raritan; a grandson, Chris Marafino, and his girlfriend, Becky McBrayer, of Orefield, PA; a sister, Jean Lorentz, and her husband, Bert, of Toms River; a brother, Harold, and his wife, Maria, of Edison; a brother-in-law, Mark Spezzaferro, and his partner, Robert Cebrick, of Doylestown, PA; and another brother-in-law, William Zupko, of Perth Amboy. A large number of extended family members and friends also survive him.
Fred was predeceased by his wife, Dolores; his sister, Joyce Zupko, and his parents, Fred and Thelma Bauer.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Fred's name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Monday, September 8 at 10:45am fro St Elizabeth Ann Seton RC Church, 23 Schoolshouse Rd. Whiting. Committal will be private.
