Born in Brooklyn, NY where he lived until moving to Whiting
Prior to retiring he was a Lithographer for Babcock & Wilcox in New York City.
He was predeceased by his firs wife Doris in 1990.
Surviving is his wife Janice Petty Birkeland. A son Roy and his wife Oksana of Englishtown. 2 daughter's: Ellen Johannesen and her husband Edward and Carolyn Ramsdal and her husband Stanley both of Brooklyn. A sister Lillian Atkins of FL. 4 Grandchildren: Janet, Nancy,Peter and Katrine. 2 Great-Grandchildren: Jeremy & Eliza.
