

George Holman, 94, recently of Little Egg Harbor Twp., passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at home. George was born in Paterson, NJ, grew up in Prospect Park and lived in North Haledon, Riverdale, Butler and West Milford, NJ. He resided in Meriden, CT for some time before moving to Manahawkin, NJ, then retiring to Whiting, NJ in 2016.
George was a veteran of the Korean War, having proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United State Air Force, from Korea to Japan and lastly to Texas. After serving, he graduated from the American Institute of Banking and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking and went on to work for various banks as a Vice President and Comptroller in New Jersey and Connecticut.
George was very active in his community and in his faith. He was a Past President of the Rotary Club in Montville, NJ and in Meriden, CT. He was an active member of The Reformed Church in America serving as Deacon, Elder and Treasurer in Manahawkin and Kinnelon, NJ as well as Treasurer and Trustee of The Congregational Church in Meriden, CT for 19 years. He was also a member of the Old Guard Chapter 19 in Manahawkin and the American Legion Post 511, also in Manahawkin, and Chaplain of the Old Guard of Forked River for many years. In his free time, George enjoyed volunteering at Southern Ocean County Medical Center in Manahawkin and traveling, having visited all 50 U.S. states and many countries of the world.
George was predeceased by his loving wife of 71 years, the late Alice Holman (nee Hardwick); his 2 brothers Cliff and John; his sister Elizabeth; and his son-in-law, Robert Kumnick. He is survived by their 2 children, Ross H. Holman & his wife Janice and Karen M. Kumnick; 3 grandchildren, Philip, Matthew & his wife Bernice; and Timothy and 2 great-grandsons, Jacob and Jonah. He is also survived by his sisters Alberta and Lois.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 11:00AM at the Ocean Community Church, 1492 NJ-72 West in Manahawkin, NJ. Committal will follow at 1:00PM with Air Force Honors at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. Anderson Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. in Whiting, NJ is in charge of the arrangements.
