surrounded by loved ones in the days leading up to her death from natural causes.

Born in Leipzig, Germany and raised in Linz, Austria, Ingeborg lived through the Depression,

World War II, and its aftermath in Europe. Ingeborg met her future husband Stanley J. Shenko

in Austria as he served there in the US Army. After marrying, they moved to the United States

and she began her new life here.

Settling in Old Bridge and then Toms River, NJ, Ingeborg was the mother of seven children. In

addition to being a busy mother, she also worked many years at Community Hospital in Toms

River as a nurse’s aide. Her gentle touch and kindness made her a popular figure at the

hospital.

After retiring in 1986 Ingeborg was free to enjoy her many grandchildren and pursue her

hobbies, including reading, knitting and needlepoint, cooking, and listening to opera and

classical music. Summers she loved spending time with family at their bungalow in Pelican

Island on the Barnegat Bay.

Ingeborg was predeceased by her husband Stanley J. Shenko in 1976, as well as two of her

children, Ingeborg Maria Schiller in 2001 and Christopher Shenko in 2020. In addition, she was

preceded by four grandchildren: Marguerite, Joseph, Thomas John (TJ), and baby Angel.

Surviving are one daughter, Janet Shenko-Kirk of Whiting, NJ, and four sons: Stanley and wife

Arlene of Osprey, FL; Joseph and wife Debra of Lynn Haven, FL; Albert of Lynn Haven, FL; and

Thomas and wife Damian of Brielle, NJ, and beloved in-laws Robert Schiller of Allentown, PA

and Pamela Shenko of Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Ingeborg had 13 surviving grandchildren: Juliette, Tara, Jonathan, Inge, John, David, Jillian,

Autumn, Christopher, Albert, Robert, Vincent, and Lucas, and 16 great-grandchildren: Lilly,

Maximilian, Cassidy, Jacob, Elaina, Benjamin, Abigail, Ethan, Ellana, Nadia, Aria, Aston, Kylie,

MacKenzie, Kaitlyn, and Braylynne.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 from 3-5pm at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ. A Memorial Service will be held during the gathering at 4:15pm. Burial will be private.
