Kenneth J. Hennelly

Kenneth J. Hennelly, age 84, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Kenneth was born on February 24, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ. He was raised in Jersey City, and after raising his family and residing in South Plainfield, NJ, he moved to Whiting, NJ in 2001. He was signed to a minor league baseball contract to play for the Boston Braves, and played with Wytheville Senators in the Blue Ridge League. Kenneth was a long time major league baseball scout for the San Diego Padres. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Kenneth is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean Hennelly;4 sons, Mark Hennelly and his wife Maureen, Kenneth Hennelly and his wife Lynette, Donald Hennelly and his wife Sheri, and Steven Hennelly and his wife Ann Marie; a brother, Donald Hennelly; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at the Anderson Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be private at a later date in the BG William C. Doyle, NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
