Pat was born and raised in Avenal, NJ. She was the only daughter of Michael and Florence Schneider. Like many people of Pat’s generation, she started her own family while still a teenager marrying the love of her life.
Pat was introduced unexpectedly, with a handsome blue eyed young man named Niels (Larry) Hansen, from Linden, who was joy riding with a buddy. Just by chance Larry’s friend, Frank, pulled into the parking lot of Walts Bar and Grill, a popular hangout for teenagers to mingle, next to Pat’s friends’ car, Bonnie. The boys struck up a conversation with the girls, however, the girls soon left the car hop driving south to a diner in Woodbridge, Reo Diner, where the conversation continued as the boys would not giving up the chance to ask the girls out getting their phone numbers.
They dated for a short time and as fate would have it, they fell in love. The couple started additions to a wonderful and loved family in Clark for a short time and soon moved to Colonia. Pat and Larry would call Colonia their home for many years to come and would raise their two children, Kevin, and Michael with much love, grace, and dignity.
Immediately, Pat devoted herself to the daunting but enriching career of a homemaker. This was clearly Pat’s calling and where she flourished, she was an amazing housekeeper and outstanding money stretcher of the little money Larry earned when the couple was young raising their two young boys. She was devoted to her children and husband, having dinner on the table every evening, and made sure that everyone was at home, fed, loved, and above all humble and kind. Pat was meticulous and organized, there was a place for everything, and everything was in its place. Larry and Pat cherished Forty years of loving and loyal marriage until Larry’s passing in 2004.
Pat was extremely devoted to her family. Pat was a giving and generous woman whose greatest passion was for her family; she started working when the boys were young saving every dime for her families every need. She worked extremely hard throughout her life as a bookkeeper, accountant’s assistant, HR managers assistant, dental office manager, and a high school secretary. Her love and care for her young grandchildren was unequal and without judgement. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Pat touched the lives of many people and will be missed by everyone that knew her.
Pat is survived by her 2 children, Kevin, and wife Lynn, Michael, and wife Veronica, and six grandchildren, Alyson, Ryan, Tanner, Brody, Niels, and Trey. A ceremony of cremation will be given by Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd Manchester NJ.
