Paul Philip Schechter, age 78, of Whiting, NJ passed away on Sunday, August 12 , 2018 at the Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ. Paul was born February 15, 1940 in Teaneck, NJ. He was raised in Emerson, NJ and later moved to Whiting after retirement. Paul was a former warehouse associate for General Motors, having retired after over 40 years of service. He was a former union committee worker and member of the United Auto Workers Local 2177. Paul served in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and he was a member of the American Legion.
Paul is survived by his son, Kenneth Schechter and his wife; his daughter Dawn Regier and her husband; brothers Harry and Louis Schechter; grandchildren Nichole, Cory, Justin, Kayla, and Kenzie; and great-grandchildren Jacob, Austin, and Elsie.
Paul’s ashes will be interred on Tuesday, September 4 at 1:00pm at the BG William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Paul’s memory to the American Legion.
