

Alice Ann Burbank Shaffer, born February 15, 1953, passed away November 8, 2022. Alice is preceded in death by her father Roy Burbank, Mother Evelyn Pearl Burbank, and Husband Paul Shaffer. Alice is survived by her brother, David Burbank, loving daughter, Kristi Harden, son-in-law, Eric Harden and her absolute pride and joy grandchildren, Logan, Carson and Kaitlyn. In addition Alice is survived by multitudes of friends who were family. Alice was known to take in anyone and everyone and treat them as her own. She was also a lifetime member of Friberg-Cooper United Methodist Church, she helped plan many special events, served on committees and sang in the choir.
Alice graduated from Hirschi High school in 1971 and from Wayland Baptist University in 1998 with her Bachelor's degree. Alice worked in Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base for 25 years. Throughout the years she served in many capacities at Sheppard AFB, but her favorite was serving as secretary for Base Commander Colonel Dennis Redding.
In 2003 Alice married Paul Shaffer, after dating for almost 15 years. Paul and Alice were inseparable and loved each other deeply. After retiring in 2009, Alice spent most of her time traveling and enjoying life with Paul, until he passed away in 2016. In addition, Alice began volunteering with PETS clinic, a non-profit veterinary clinic in 2013.
Throughout her life Alice had a deep passion for all animals, especially taking care of dogs who no one else cared for. Alice fostered 42 dogs over the years and gave each of them an opportunity for a better life and loved each of them as her own. Alice also continued volunteering at PETS clinic several days a week, she loved using her skills to help animals in many different ways. Most recently she could be found invoicing patients in the room at the new PETS clinic which is dedicated in memory of Paul.
A memorial service will be held December 8, 2022, at 11:00 am at Friberg- Cooper UMC. In lieu of flowers, Alice would want any donations to be made to PETS clinic in her memory by clicking here:
