

Alice Strickland, 78, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at a local hospice. Services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend Howard Chapman and Chaplain Harvey McMurry. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Alice was born August 7, 1933 in Holland, Texas to Charles Lafayette and Idella B. Benner Sinclair. She married Donald H. Strickland March 21, 1952 in Yuma, AZ and together they raised three sons. She traveled across the United States as a military wife. She worked a short time as an orthodontist assistant for Dr. Pink. For 25 years she was co-owner of Strickland’s Lumber with her husband. Alice was a member of First Baptist Church. She was an avid and much accomplished painter, winning 8 ribbons at the Texas State Fair. She had many creative hobbies. Her first love was her family; she loved being a wife, mother, and grandmother and spending time watching movies with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Strickland is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Idella Sinclair.
Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Donald H. Strickland; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry L. and Jodee Strickland of Bremerton, WA, Bruce W. and Linda Strickland of Joy, TX, Charles R. Sr. and Dyanne Strickland of Wichita Falls; brother and sister-in-law, Waymon and Patricia Sinclair of Cedar Park, TX; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Kelsey, Meggan, Chad, Christi, Charles Jr, Brandie; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
