Barbara L. Scales

Services will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas. Visitation will be at 1:00, Service at 2:00, and a Graveside at 3:00.

Pastor Eric Deluna of Lakeview Church of the Nazarene will officiate the services.

Barbara was born December 17, 1938 in Bebee, Arkansas to Delmer L. and Mary Alberta (Young) Stipe. Barbara’s formative years were spent in Beebe attending school. In 1948 the family moved to Bethany, OK. Barbara’s faith foundation was nurtured in the Nazarene Church of which she remains affiliated to this day. Barbara graduated Bethany High School in 1956 and married Willis Wayne Scales January 26 of 1958. They moved to Wichita Falls to start Scales Concrete Construction Company 1959. She had two boys, Ricky and Keith that went on to work in the family business. Barbara occupied her time as a young adult volunteering for ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) and the Bethania Hospital gift shop. Barbara was a loving mother who supported her sons in all of their activities. Barbara enjoyed bowling, playing cards, doing puzzles, reading, and was an avid collector of antiques. In later years her health made it difficult to go and do as she liked, but she always looked forward to spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and close friends.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Delmar L. Stipe, Mary (Young) Moody, brother, Charles Stipe, her husband Willis Wayne Scales.

She is survived by sons Ricky Scales, wife Margaret A. Scales, Keith Scales, wife Robin A. Scales, eight grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
