Betty Sue Wiley Phelan

Betty was born on May 20, 1940, to TA Wiley and Nina Fae Wiley in Wichita Falls, Texas. She married Donnie Phelan on June 14, 1958, and they had three children, Trent, Kerry, and Patti. Throughout her life, Betty was employed in various jobs and positions. She retired as office manager at Texas Workers’ Compensation Commission in April 2006. The most important job to Betty was, without a doubt, her job as mother to her three children. She was their strongest advocate and supporter and loved each one fiercely and unconditionally. As she grew older, the love for family extended to her grandchildren. From the time they were born, each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and she looked forward to every visit with them. She was an avid reader throughout her lifetime and read her favorite book, The Bible, from cover to cover many times. Her faith in Christ was a constant source of strength to her throughout her life. Even in her last days, she was at peace, knowing this life is just a prelude to the life she now has with Jesus.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, TA and Nina Wiley, her sister, Patti Knighton, and her son, Trent Phelan. She is survived by her sister, Sue Evans (and husband, Mike), children, Kerry Phelan (and his wife, Beth) and Patti Hosford; grandchildren, Caitlin Rebecca Cantrell (and husband, Jeramy), Megan Phelan, Shannon Phelan, Ryan Hosford, Sean Hosford (and wife, Kelsea); and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held in Wichita Falls at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 1:00 with a graveside service following at Riverside Cemetery.
