Born on October 9, 1951, in Alameda, California, to Calvin R. Holman Sr. and Barbara D. Phillips, Calvin was raised in a loving and supportive household by his parents and grandparents, Alford and Martha Holman. Alongside his brothers and sisters, Calvin’s early life was filled with strong family bonds and deep-rooted values.
Calvin was a proud graduate of Oakland Technical High School. Following his graduation, he honorably enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served with distinction for over two decades. During his service, he earned both his Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Occupational Science from Wayland Baptist University.
It was during his time stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base that Calvin met the love of his life, Yvonne. They were united in marriage on January 26, 1973, and together shared 52 beautiful years. Their union was blessed with three children: DeMarcia, Kellie, and Calvin Douglas.
After retiring as a Technical Sergeant, Calvin and his family made their home in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he continued his service to others through a variety of meaningful roles. He worked for the City of Wichita Falls as Director of the Diabetes Program, served as Program Administrator for the Wichita Falls Weed & Seed program under the U.S. Department of Justice, worked as a pharmacy technician at Bethania Regional Health Care Center, and later became a substitute teacher for the Wichita Falls Independent School District until his health declined.
Known for his unwavering commitment to his family, his generous spirit, and his loyalty, Calvin was deeply respected in his community. He was a dedicated Oakland Raiders fan, a source of strength for those around him, and a man whose warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Calvin was preceded in death by his beloved parents. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that lives on in his cherished wife, Yvonne “Von” Holman; his children, DeMarcia Black (Oliver), Kellie Persson (Casey), and Calvin Douglas Holman (LaSaundra); and his six grandchildren, Kellen, Jaymron, Peyton, Mariah, Olivia, and Case.
