Clarence M. Phelps, Jr., 79, of Wichita Falls passed away Thursday, September 04, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Steve Stout officiating. Military rites will be rendered by the Sheppard AFB Honor Guard.
Mr. Phelps was born April 4, 1935 in Odenton, Maryland. Clarence married his wife, Joyce Ann on August 31, 1957 and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2001. He served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Staff Sergeant in 1974. Clarence was a Fire Protection Supervisor in the Air Force which is equivalent to a civilian Fire Chief. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Survivors are his sons, Duane Phelps and wife Lynn, Tony Phelps, William Phelps, Sr. and Patrick Phelps, all of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Jeffrey Snow, Melanie Cauldwell and William Phelps, Jr. and his wife Karrolin; also nine great grandchildren.
