Donna Young

Donna Jean Edmondson was born July 30, 1942, to Eugene Edmondson and Bonnie Edmondson nee’ Braddock in Wichita Falls, Texas. Donna went on to attend Sam Houston Elementary, Zundy Junior High School and graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1960. Throughout her school years her love of music and learning grew. She began attending Midwestern University in the fall of 1960 and was soon introduced to a handsome young race car driver, Steven Young, through mutual friends, Ronnie and Carol Webb. They married in November of 1962, and Donna graduated from Midwestern University in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in music education, while also expecting their first child, Steven Jeffrey, followed three years later by Scott Gregory.

Donna went on have a lengthy career with WFISD and taught a variety of subjects and ages. All the way from elementary school to high school and from music to social studies. She loved learning and strove to instill that same love in her students.

Her first loves were Steven and her boys. A distant second was held by music, history, and racing, equally. She and Steven shared many interests and passions and traveled all over the country pursuing them. Watching Steven, Greg and Jeff race was a favorite pastime, and her fierce competitive nature came to the forefront every time.

After retirement, the gift of grandchildren came along, and she embraced her new role with a fierceness typical of Donna. Zoe and Zane brought so much joy to her. Her pride in their achievements was a blessing for all to watch.

Donna left this world on February 11, 2026, after a long battle with dementia. She is preceded in death by her Husband, Steven Young, Son, Steven Jeffrey Young, her mother, Bonnie Edmondson Moore, her father Eugene Edmondson, brother Robbie Edmondson and sister Cheryl Tidwell. Donna is survived by her son Scott Gregory Young and his wife, Jamie and their children Zoe and Zane, along with many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on February 18, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, located at 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas, on February 19, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am.
