Ed Peacemaker or “Petie” as he is known back in his hometown, was born on March 8, 1951 in Winchester, Virginia, son of the late Edsel Peacemaker, Sr. and Betty Peacemaker and was the oldest of five siblings. He graduated from James Wood High School in Winchester in 1970. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he very honorably served his country for over 26 years. It was early in his military career while stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base for technical training, that he met his beloved bride, Lydia Gonzales Peacemaker and shared a marriage in this life spanning 48 years. The Air Force relocated Ed and his family several times while he served as Inter-continental ballistic missile technician and instructor and later as a First Sergeant. He chose to make Wichita Falls his new home for his family, bringing his wife Lydia back to where she was born and raised so that she could always be near family. After retiring from active duty in 1996, Ed worked as a technician for James Lane Air Conditioning and then returned serving his country, this time as a civilian instructor teaching fire suppression systems in Water Fuels Systems Maintenance where he was highly respected by his colleagues and students. While serving as a civilian instructor, Ed decided to build on his military education and returned to college at Wayland Baptist University where he graduated with honors in March of 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Education. This impressive Milestone took place when Ed was 56 years old.
Ed Peacemaker had a passion for music. It started as a child when he taught himself to play guitar, and continued as he played in many bands over the next 60 years. His most recent musical endeavors allowed him to glorify almighty God as part of the praise and worship team where he attended at Country Chapel on 287 and Wellington Rd. in Wichita Falls. Ed loved playing guitar, bass and steel guitar and could be found frequently playing jamborees and cowboy churches around the area. He was a lifetime member of the Texas Steel Guitar Association and leaves behind a long list of friends that he encountered over the years while making music.
Success to Ed was visible to those who knew him in many areas of life, but none compared to his achievements as a servant to Christ and to his beloved family that adored him. He continues to serve even though this part of his journey on earth has concluded. A man of few words, but whose actions in love will continue to be heard loud and clear eternally.
Edsel Peacemaker was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia who entered heaven in 2019 and his brother, Gary Peacemaker.
Surviving Ed are his two sons, Edsel III (Eddie), Darian Peacemaker and wife, Jennifer, Beloved grandchildren, Landon, Hailey and Alyssa. Also surviving him are his siblings, Yvonne Van Metre, Marcellus Peacemaker and Thelma (Sissy) Mason.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests that donations be made in his memorial to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
