Evelyn Mae Owens

Evelyn M. Owens, 88, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Wichita Falls. Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.

Evelyn was born February 23, 1923 in Oklahoma City, OK to Boyd Lee and Ora Elsie (Cook) Marshall. She married Elmer D. Owens in February 1947 in Henrietta, TX and together they raised eight children. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church. Evelyn is remembered as a mother to all, loving all she came in contact with, but adoring her children and grandchildren. Her stove was always full of food on the weekends, ready for anyone to stop by to share dinner. She loved to work in her garden, go camping, and work on jigsaw puzzles.

Mrs. Owens is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Elmer Owens in 2001; parents, Boyd and Ora Marshall; sister, Dorothy Riddles; brothers, Grady and Donald Marshall; and grandson, Darrell Wayne Fletcher.

Survivors include her eight devoted children and their spouses, Marion W. and Joyce Deemer, of Weimar, TX, Linda and Bobby Fletcher of Houston, TX, Denny and Lynda Deemer of Bowie, Louise and Clifford Taylor, Lindsey Lee Owens, Vivian and Rick Lowe, Donnie and Janet Owens, Steve Dale and Susie Owens all of Wichita Falls; sister, Doris Bertrand of Baytown, TX; brother, Billy Marshall of Wichita Falls; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
