

Evelyn E. Smith, 84, of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on March 29, 2026. Born March 21, 1942, in Cleburne, Texas, Evelyn was the daughter of Claude and Mabel McClendon. After her early years, she spent most of her life in Wichita Falls, where she built a life defined by steady devotion to home and family.
Evelyn retired from Safeway Grocery store, where she worked as a checker and in the meat market. Her years of service reflected a dependable work ethic and a quiet pride in doing her job well.
On May 15, 1986, she married the love of her life, Nowell Smith. Together, they enjoyed traveling, family gatherings at the lake, and camping—simple joys that became lasting memories for those who shared them.
Evelyn found comfort and satisfaction in the routines of home. She loved working in the yard, tending to her flower beds, and decorating inside the house, creating welcoming spaces that reflected her care and attention to detail.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kimberly Cook; four sisters; and one brother. She is survived by her husband, Nowell Smith; her son, Randy Mclaughlin of Wichita Falls; her son, Greg Mclaughlin of Iowa Park; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A loving grandmother, Evelyn will be missed dearly and remembered with respect and gratitude by all who knew and loved her.
