Felipe was born on December 10, 1950, in Seymour, Texas, and from a very young age, he had a deep love for music. At the age of 14, Felipe finally got his wish for a guitar, and from that moment on, he practiced tirelessly day and night, even after school. By the time he was 16, he formed his first band, which went on to become well-known after winning a Battle of the Bands competition at the YMCA.
Throughout his adult life, people recognized Felipe from his original band, the Roaming Shadows, when they visited his music store. He went on a road trip with a group called the Evergreen Highway and toured the United States with the love of his life Jane Morales Casillas. Felipe and Jane were married for an outstanding 50 years.
Felipe was a responsible man who owned a home at a young age and became an established figure in Wichita Falls. He started a band called T-bone rd, which lasted for 32 years and had many cherished band members. In 1989, Felipe opened the F & J Music store, which grew rapidly to have 11 instructors, four staff, and over 200 students per week. Felipe generously helped his family and always tried to be there for them, and even though he had no children of his own, he educated thousands of them through his music store, giving them both musical and life lessons.
Felipe's infectious smile, love, and support will be missed at any event, gathering, or party he attended. His life was exemplary and a dream for many. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Felipe Casillas Sr. and Hortencia Casillas. Felipe leaves behind his beloved wife, Jane, brother Ronnie Casillas, sister Mary Helen and a large loving extended family.
Felipe will be laid to rest by his fellow band members which consist of; Joe Snyder, Arnold Brake, Johnie Divine, Jerry Bob Tuck, Jessie Andrade, Cameron Rodriguez, and with exception Eli Arredondo.
